More About Indoor Play

January 21, 2009

It's only January, and we still have at least three more months of cold weather ahead of us. I don't know about you, but my daughter still needs to shake her sillys out, and boy oh BOY do we miss being able to just run down to the local playground to do it! (Not that we don't, sometimes, head down there on cold sunny days, but it doesn't last too long; we all get too cold and come home.)

By now, if you are like me, you are already a bit tired of the crowds at the local children's museum and the Treehouse at the zoo. Perhaps you are also like me and you've given up on actually putting away the toys because there is no point since they'll just get dragged out again by the bored and slightly crazy child (ahem).

If you are seeking some alternatives, here is a great list of local indoor playgrounds that offer a chance for your kids to run off all that energy where it's nice and warm. (If you are in New Jersey, I've just discoveredLittle Sport Gym in Maple Shade--wow, you guys are lucky! That place looks great!)

Here is a list of local indoor pools and pool clubs (yes, I know, I just wrote that the other day); I find swimming in the winter to be immensely uplifting, myself.

Here is a list of great local activities that maybe you haven't already tried, including the most obvious spots for indoor fun in Philadelphia.

Do you have any great suggestions? I'm open. Like I said, we've got THREE MORE MONTHS!
