Keeping Memories Intact

January 14, 2009

You get one at your first baby shower: a baby book. But what do you do with it? What do you put in it? And what if it's completely hideous and you never want to look at it again? (This happened to me. Do not tell anyone.)

Luckily, there are plenty of beautiful hand made baby books out there these days. You can always hit us the shops on Etsy if you don't want to leave the house, but if you are like me and enjoy perusing beautiful hand made objects (including baby books), you might want to visit these local stores.

Remember Me Stationary & Gifts in Moorestown, NJ. This beautiful store has an amazing selection of hand made paper objects and books. I could spend hours there.

Paper Impressions in Newtown Square, PA. Newtown Square is full of hidden gems, and Paper Impressions is one of them. This lovely store has more ways to use paper than you can possibly imagine--and the paper to do it.

Paper on Pine. The shopping district that has sprung up on Pine Street east of Broad in Philadelphia is enchanting. Paper on Pine is one of the many treasures in this stretch of shops, and you can't go wrong with their product line.

Now my baby book, carefully selected by me, contains tiny memories like my daughter's hospital bracelet, her first footprints, a lock of her crazy newborn hair, as well as funny things like the "instructions" the hospital gave us (mostly about avoiding 'shaken baby syndrome' required by the state). What's in yours?
